BCROF Advert 2: Request for Consultant on Training of Health Care Workers (HCWs)

BACKGROUND
Barr. Chika Rita Okwuosah Foundation (BCROF) is a woman led- women focused organization and was inaugurated on June 14, 2019, with a vision to immortalize Late Barr. Chika Rita Okwuosah. Her passion to contribute her quota to the society towards ensuring women and girls are empowered to withstand societal pressures and become less vulnerable to domestic violence gave birth to the foundation.

BCROF since its inception has undertaken some projects to improve the wellbeing of women and girls both at the urban and rural levels. To continue to actualize its vision, BCROF is undertaking a project under the Women’s Voice and Leadership (WVL) Nigeria-Program Post COVID 19 Top Up Grant, to address vulnerability issues associated with Gender Based Violence (GBV) in Ogbaru LGA of Anambra State.

The WVL Program therefore aims to provide protection services such as medical, shelter, legal, nutritional, psycho-social support services, etc., to indigent women and girls thereby creating enabling environment for the survival of women and girls at the grassroots level. These services can be provided by the government, individual philanthropists, religious bodies, NGOs, professional bodies, community, etc.

TERMS OF REFERENCE
BCROF seeks an expert and experienced medical professional who will undertake a short-term consultancy to strengthen the capacity of select cadre of healthcare workers in Ogbaru LGA of Anambra State to be able to provide medical aid including Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PeP), emergency contraceptives, counselling, etc. for rape survivors and treatment of patients of physical abuse.

The main objective of this activity is to improve knowledge of sexual violence and its clinical management and provide prompt medical support to rape survivors.

Location: Ogbaru LGA of Anambra State.

Details of Assignment
The Consultant will;
1. Build the capacities of HCWs to reflect current views and practices on clinical management of rape and treatment of patients of physical abuse.

2. Provide training slides which includes user guide/manual for clinical management of rape.

3. Develop a GBV screening and client intake form for facility review of reported GBV cases in Ogbaru LGA of Anambra State.

4. Determine an adaptable GBV Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for use by the trained healthcare workers.

5. Develop a referral form for cases requiring further psycho-social support.

Deliverables and Expected Outcome
• A maximum number of 32 healthcare workers trained on clinical management of rapes.
• A user guide/manual for clinical management of rape identified.
• GBV client intake form developed.
• An adaptable SOP for use by trained HCWs.
• A referral form for psycho-social cases developed.

A major outcome will be an improved knowledge of sexual violence and its clinical management among the select HCWs.

Duration of Assignment: Three (3) days (1 day training preparation, 1 day of training and 1 day of report writing and analysis)
