BCROF Advert 1: Request for Consultant on Training of Staff & Lay Counselors

BACKGROUND
Barr. Chika Rita Okwuosah Foundation (BCROF) is a woman led- women focused organization and was inaugurated on June 14, 2019, with a vision to immortalize Late Barr. Chika Rita Okwuosah. Her passion to contribute her quota to the society towards ensuring women and girls are empowered to withstand societal pressures and become less vulnerable to domestic violence gave birth to the foundation.

BCROF since its inception has undertaken some projects to improve the wellbeing of women and girls both at the urban and rural levels. To continue to actualize its vision, BCROF is undertaking a project under the Women’s Voice and Leadership (WVL) Nigeria-Program Post COVID 19 Top Up Grant, to address vulnerability issues associated with Gender Based Violence (GBV) in Ogbaru LGA of Anambra State.

The WVL Program therefore aims to provide protection services such as medical, shelter, legal, nutritional, psycho-social support services, etc., to indigent women and girls thereby creating enabling environment for the survival of women and girls at the grassroots level. These services can be provided by the government, individual philanthropists, religious bodies, NGOs, professional bodies, community, etc.

TERMS OF REFERENCE
BCROF seeks an experienced consultant to;

1. Build the capacity of BCROF staff on GBV response services including provision of psycho-social support in Ogbaru LGA of Anambra state.

2. Equip lay counsellors with relevant skills to provide GBV emergency response including counselling, psycho-social support (PSS) and referrals to beneficiaries of the intervention in Ogbaru LGA of Anambra state.

Location: Ogbaru LGA of Anambra State.

Details of Assignment
1. Facilitate a 2 day In-house training of 7 BCROF Staff and 8 Volunteers on GBV Response and Provision of Psycho-Social Support.

2. Facilitate 3 days training for Lay Counsellors on GBV counselling and mentorship for GBV survivors.

3. Provision of 3 months remote mentorship support to the lay counsellors to be able to provide efficient services to beneficiaries.

4. Provision of qualified psychologists/psychotherapists for cases of GBV that need specialized assessment.

5. Share draft report with BCROF management for review and final approval.

6. Submit all relevant information to the assignment carried out.

Deliverables
1. 7 BCROF staff and 8 volunteers trained on GBV response and provision of Psycho-social support.

2. Two (2) trained Lay Counselors on counselling and mentorship for GBV survivors.

3. A performance benchmark for assessing organizational capacity to provide GBV services in Ogbaru LGA.

4. A finalized training report

Expected Outcomes
• An improved knowledge of GBV response and services among BCROF staff.
• Scale up of psycho-social support services for GBV survivors in Ogbaru LGA.

Duration of Assignment: A total number of five (5) days.
• Two(2) days of in-house training for BCROF staff and 8 volunteers
• Three (3) days of one-on-one training for Lay Counsellors, and 3 months of remote mentorship support.
