Barr Chika Rita Okwuosah’s Passion – Lessons for the Nigerian Youths

Nigerian youths have been charged to be employers of labour, as white collar jobs are no longer readily available.

The Chairman, Board of Trustee, Chika Rita Okwuosah Foundation (CROF​), Dr Dozie Okwuosah and Chika’s father stated this in Abuja at the foundation’s maiden event.

The foundation​​ was ​ unveiled to immortalise Barrister Chika Okwuosah who died in her prime ​as a legal practitioner.

Chika died ​​Febuary this year shortly ​after she bagged her Masters Degree in Law from the University of Dundee .

The Board Chairman of the foundation, Dr Dozie Okwuosah noted the era of white collar jobs for graduates was no more in the country, adding that graduates must strive to be self-employed and create jobs to drive the economy.

“White collar jobs are no longer there. Jobs that you create with your hands are what you should pursue. You have gotten your education,you have proved that you can read and write.

“My advise is people should read for reading sake,and start something they love, go and start something forget this education, this country has a lot of potentials to be technically oriented. This makes it easier for you to be relevant in Nigeria of today,”Dr Dozie said.

On her part, Chika’s mother, Mrs Annie Okwuosah said the aim of the foundation was to ​fulfill Chika’s dream of becoming a world class fashion designer​​ and lover of people.

“It had always been ​​Chika’s dream to be a world class fashion designer​s​ even after she became qualified, she loves fashion,she had bought all her machines,everything needed to start up,if you come to our house,you will see them there”

In an interview with newsmen a member of the board, Mr Oche Obe described Chika as a rare gem, a lover of people.

“The only child of her parent, the only way the parent feel they could immortalise and remember her for ever was to start up this foundation.”

The event featured fund raising , show of interest by dignitaries and guest in attendance, Fashion Design Competition for ​upcoming​ female​ fashion designers​.
