Message from the Chairman
I am delighted to welcome you to our Foundation’s website on behalf of the Board, Management and all Corporate and Individual Stakeholders of the BCROF project.
The story behind our existence, and everything we do at BCROF, touching lives and serving humanity, is one inspired by the legacies, passion and lofty aspirations of our only child – Barrister Chika Rita Okwuosah who went to be with the Lord, after a brief battle with brain tumor at the age of thirty-one. Until her transition, Chika Rita Okwuosah was a sterling, learned lawyer with LLM from the University of Dundee (Scotland), LLB from the prestigious in University of Essex in the United Kingdom, and a Bachelor of Law from the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, Nigeria.
Having fulfilled her academic aspirations, she discovered her purpose in entrepreneurship, and started her newfound passion in the fashion industry. According to her, she was inclined to make humanity look good every day – a trait every one who came in contact with her could testify of her personality.
At her funeral Mass, I made a pledge to immortalize and further Chika’s aspirations to be a world class fashion entrepreneur by assisting and empowering artisans, designers and entrepreneurs, especially women and girls, to realize their potentials in fashion vocation and industry across Africa.
The foundation will give back to the society by supporting female start-ups to establish and grow their own fashion businesses, as well as promote the rights of girls and women to quality education, healthcare and socio-economic well-being.
As her father, I drew strength from the words of Ashley Gallagher, the Executive Director of Charity Smith, who once said: “To give back when you’ve lost so much is really the only way forward” and that “The grieving process is way more of a burden to bear when you’ve not giving back to other people”.
In resonance with Ashley Gallagher therefore, I am pleased to champion this cause – with support from family and friends of Barrister Chika Okwuosah to ensure her legacies, passion, lofty aspirations live on. It is my confident hope that the Foundation (BARR. CHIKA RITA OKWUOSAH FOUNDATION) will continue to serve as a mirror of her passion, love, strength, and helping hands to the benefits of mankind, especially women and girls. I see this foundation as a ministry Chika Rita Okwuosah has bequeathed to humanity in advancing her purpose for living on the sands of time.
Importantly, I would like to appreciate all members of the board of trustees, loved ones, friends, acquaintances, corporate concerns, volunteers, and all other stakeholders who have shared in BCROF’s vision, mission, objectives, and what we do every day. Undoubtedly, the journey before us is very great and tasking, but we are full of excitement and a sense of fulfillment to have begun together, since the unveiling of the foundation in 2019, and we hope to continually count on your unflinching commitment . We appreciate your trust, contribution of time and resources to support this noble cause.
Once again, with great pleasure, I welcome you to our website. We look forward to working with you, and serving you!
Kindly accept the assurances of my highest regards.
Sir (Dr.) Dozie Okwuosah,
Chairman, Board of Trustees, Barrister Chika Rita Okwuosah Foundation (CROF)
